This practice also improves spelling and writing abilities, empowering students to confidently tackle unfamiliar words. In essence, phonics practice is the cornerstone of effective reading and language development.
In all our lessons, students learn to practice what experienced and good readers do naturally, which is to pay attention to every word, read with a high rate of accuracy, and use strategies for attacking unfamiliar and multi-syllable words. Our lessons, Launchpad, Countdown, Blast, HD Word, and Boost students practice phonemic awareness, phonics concepts, and word attack skills. They also practice reading accurately, which translates to better comprehension.

The Countdown Student Guided Practice Workbook is used in the second half of kindergarten in conjunction with Teachers Guide Book 3. It serves as a light formative assessment to help determine who may need more instruction. This workbook is used in conjunction with Countdown Online and gives students and teachers an efficient way to practice positive error correction.
The Countdown Student Kit is designed to work in conjunction with our kindergarten Countdown lessons and provide visual and tactile elements to our multisensory approach. It includes the letter tiles, color tiles, and other components needed to complete all 27 units of Countdown.
The Countdown Reading Playground is a play-based digital platform that helps students independently practice the foundational literacy skills they are learning in Countdown, and also includes the Vocabulary Playground. They have easy-to-read teacher dashboards to monitor individual student performance.
