As mentioned, vowel motions are an important part of our multi-sensory instruction. We were able to demonstrate the short and long vowel motions and use them during finger stretching.

Because closed syllables dominate our language, many multi-syllabic words are comprised of just closed syllables. We used the Lose the Rules instructional routine to break these words into decodable chunks including “fantastic”. Check out this video of Andrew, the kindergarten student using this routine with the word “fantastic”.
